The breed standard is, I believe, designed to emphasise the harmony
created by the Akita's appearance and expression. Its thick coat hides a muscular and powerful body that gives way to a supple elegance when the Akita is in motion. Brushing once a week is enough to remove dead hairs. Apart from this weekly treatment, the Akita does not need any special care. This breed sheds its hair twice per year and needs more frequent brushing during this period. |
